Nerves

The body continues to amaze me. As I'm driving yesterday, out of the blue I had the most intense electrical-like, burning feeling take over the front of my upper thigh. This burning feeling created an intense itch and I swear I could feel these electrical like currents running through my skin. After awhile I forgot about it, then suddenly today it hit me that my thigh is not quite as numb as it use to be! I have more feeling in it today than I did yesterday. Isn't that weird, I'm coming up on 2 years post-PAO in July and my body is still continuing to reconnect.

Hi there, I read your blog and have my own.. frankly these blogs got me thru the last year and I have set up a facebook page dedicated to putting up great hip blogs and would ask if you would share yours on this site by linking your to the site, it will create more traffic to your site and give one place where a newly diagnosed person can find all good hip blogs. It is on facebook and called 'FAI Hip impingment blogs' and covers PAO and THR as they often over lap.
Your help to others will be much appreciated..
Many thanks Louisa

Awesome news. The peripheral nervous system can indeed regrow and rewire itself after being cut, unlike the central nervous system. As your brain learns how to interpret the new input, the strange sensations should taper off.

Hello,
I have been (desperate mom) combing the internet for help for my 17 year old son. He has been diagnosed with retroverted acetabulum and we have been misdiagnosed/shuffled around and given conflicting avenues of treatment. One of them being a PAO. Can you advise us? He is at home in agonizing pain right now...Where are you from and who is Dr. Z?

Karen,
Dr. Zaltz is in Detroit, where are you? I'm not familiar with "retrovision", but I did a quick search and it sounds painful as it affects the load bearing of the hip. I can try to answer your questions. A really good source of info can be found on the Yahoo! group Hip Women, which I may have a link to on the left side of my blog. Those ladies know hips and have see it all.

Karen,
Dr. Zaltz is a Pediatric Ortho Surgeon in Detroit. I'm not familiar with your son's condition, but it sounds like it affects the load bearing of the hip which would be quite painful. A good source of info can be found on the Yahoo group Hip Women, the ladies really know hips and have been through it all.
